Brandy O’Briant was raised on a steady diet of Nancy Drew, Judy Blume, and Beverly Cleary—books that led her to spend hours helping out at the local independent bookstore and hiding in the library stacks.

Brandy is a writer and literary entrepreneur whose work explores the quiet complexities of human connection. A graduate of Northwestern University with both a BA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing (Fiction), she spent years in the advertising and media world before returning to her first love: literature.

In 2017, Brandy founded Page 1 Books, a personalized book subscription service born from a lifelong belief in the transformative power of stories. The company quickly gained national attention—including a feature on Oprah’s list of best book subscriptions. She sold the business in 2022 to make the move from Chicago to England, to live in a land she loves.

Brandy lives on the south coast, where she teaches fiction writing workshops and continues to write character-driven, emotionally intelligent fiction. Her debut novel, No Grotesques in Nature, is a meditation on love and unexpected connection, written in prose that is lyrical, and deeply humane. Her style is marked by psychological acuity, wry tenderness, and a reverence for the small moments that shape us.

When she’s not writing, you’ll find her walking her beagle, reading, swimming in the English Channel, or spending time with the family that she loves.
